Karishma Panchal Patel Built Evolve to Make ISO Systems Actually Work

Meet Karishma Panchal Patel, founder of Evolve, who has delivered 150+ quality and sustainability projects and conducted 1,000+ audits, helping businesses turn ISO compliance into a lasting culture.

Karishma Panchal Patel Built Evolve to Make ISO Systems Actually Work

Her first professional exposure was at a flight kitchen in Mumbai. Karishma Panchal Patel was a young microbiologist cum Food Technologist then, fresh out of SNDT University, testing food samples with a lot of confidence and not much experience. She had no idea that twenty years later she would be sitting in boardrooms, telling founders something that sounds obvious and almost never gets believed: compliance is not a checklist. It is a culture.

Today she is the founder of Evolve, a quality and sustainability consultancy that has delivered more than 150 projects. She has also conducted over 1,000 customer audits as an associate auditor with BSCIC Certifications. Evolve was formed on 09th of September 2011. If you run a factory in Gujarat, Daman or anywhere nearby, there is a fair chance someone she trained has already walked through your gate.

A small town with a very specific problem

Karishma built her career in Daman, a small town with a big manufacturing footprint. Plastics, pharma, food, chemicals. Plenty of ISO consultants were around. Almost few were doing the harder job of making a system actually work once the certificate was framed.

She saw it early. Her first roles were on the shop floor side of quality: Quality In Charge at a dairy company, where she handled product testing and sensory evaluation, and later a technical executive role in Vapi, where she implemented standards, ran internal audits and trained customers. Somewhere in those years she noticed the same thing again and again. What the standard asked for and how people really worked were two different worlds, and nobody was standing in the middle.

"Many companies have the same problem but no solution provider," she told us. In September 2011, she decided to become that provider. Evolve was born.

What Evolve actually does

On paper, the list is long: consultancy, certification support and training across ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 22000 and ISO 15378, plus GMP, ESG, GRI reporting and SDG alignment. In practice, the pitch is simpler. Evolve takes on system implementation projects, the unglamorous work of making sure a procedure written in a binder is the same procedure the night shift follows.

She has a line for it. An environmental policy that lives only on the wall, she says, is not a system. It is wall art.

Her own credentials back the claim. Karishma is a food technologist with a diploma in industrial management and a PGDBA in CRM. She is a qualified lead auditor for ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and 22000, and this October she completed the new ISO 14001:2026 & ISO 9001 : 2026 lead auditor qualification to the list. She has also completed certification courses in ESG and corporate governance, which tells you something about where she thinks her field is heading.

Sitting on both sides of the table

Most consultants only see companies when they are preparing for an audit. Karishma has spent years on the auditor's side too, and she says that is where the real education happened.

The food plants, the pharma units, the beverage and rubber makers, the distilleries and hotels all taught her variations of one lesson. A spotless factory is not necessarily a safe one. She has found critical GMP violations behind spotless walls, and she has found excellent systems in modest buildings run by founders who truly cared about quality. Appearance, she says, is not compliance.

She also watches the first ten minutes of an audit more closely than any document. A managing director who gets defensive is a warning sign. One who gets curious is learning. One who waves it all away is a company at risk.

The part she doesn't dress up

Ask her about the hardest chapter and she does not reach for the usual answers. Gender bias, she says, was one of the biggest challenges in the industry. It has not vanished, but after 20-plus years of showing up, delivering and being right on the shop floor, she has outworked most of it.

There is no bitterness in the way she says it. If anything, it explains why she is so patient with the founders who doubt her for the first meeting and call her for the second.

More than a consultant

Karishma is also the long term system consultant at Novex Poly Films Pvt. Ltd., a role she has held since 2013, handling GMP, ISO 9001 and ISO 15378 compliance, 900 customer audits handling as auditee and team training. She writes a monthly newsletter, The Degree Was Never Enough , now past 1,500 subscribers. And she recently published her first book, The SDG Blueprint: From Goals to Action , which turns 17 LinkedIn articles on the Sustainable Development Goals into one practical read.

Her next ambition is a board seat. As an IICA-certified professional, she wants to serve as an Independent Director and bring a quality and governance lens to boards that rarely get one.

Where Evolve goes next

The plan for Evolve is refreshingly plain. Build a network of associates across the globe and serve companies wherever they are. A consultancy that began by fixing the gap in one small town now wants to close it everywhere.

Her advice to founders

We asked what she would tell someone starting out. The answer was short and a little stern.

"Do not take shortcuts in system implementation. Implement any ISO system religiously, and you will reap the benefit for the longer run."

It is the kind of advice you only give after 1,000 audits. Karishma Panchal Patel has seen what happens to companies that skip the boring parts, and what happens to the ones that don't.

Her own philosophy fits in a single line: quality builds trust, and compliance builds confidence.
