Speaking about the event, Anil Mohan, Secretary of Sarmang Society, said:
“The Sarmang Dehradun Marathon was born during the lockdown with a vision to bring health, fitness, and world-class running culture to Uttarakhand. Today, it stands as a platform where runners from across the country come together to challenge themselves, celebrate sportsmanship, and promote Dehradun as a global running destination. We welcome everyone – whether you are a professional athlete, a fitness enthusiast, or a first-time runner – to be part of this unique experience”.
The event is organized by the Sarmang Society, a Dehradun-based non-profit organization dedicated to promoting sports, health, and fitness. Sarmang Society is also the force behind the globally recognized “Summit or Surrender” race series, which includes the iconic Ladakh Umlingla Challenge — the world’s highest ultra marathon at an altitude of 5800 meters, higher than the Everest Base Camp.
Through these initiatives, Sarmang Society is not only promoting running but also putting Uttarakhand and India on the global endurance sports map. The upcoming Dehradun Marathon continues this mission by encouraging mass participation, promoting fitness culture, and establishing Dehradun as a marathon hub.
