Sundarbans, West Bengal – August 2025: In an inspiring stride towards climate resilience and ecological restoration, a massive mangrove plantation drive has been undertaken in the remote Kumirmari village of Gosaba block, at the heart of the Sundarbans.

Between 2023 and 2025, 1.5 lakh mangrove saplings have already been planted across nearly 40,000 square feet of vulnerable coastline and tidal zones. The initiative, supported by International Logistics Limited (TMILL) and implemented by the Afflatus Foundation, is being guided by the unmatched expertise of the Mangrove Man, Umashankar Mondal.
Now, as part of the 2025–2026 financial year plan, the team has set an even more ambitious target – to plant another 1 lakh mangrove saplings, further fortifying the region’s natural defense against rising seas, cyclones, and coastal erosion.
