The Spark That Lit the Flame

The idea for Srujanee was born not in a boardroom, but through real-world experiences and a striking moment of insight. After completing his B.Tech in Electronics and Telecommunication from VSSUT, Burla, Anurag worked for four years in the automobile industry, contributing to the futuristic world of self-driving cars. But something was missing—a sense of deeper purpose.

That purpose revealed itself during a volunteer teaching session in Cuttack, Odisha. Anurag had asked his students to look up information about the Jagannath Temple using Google. A young boy returned the next day, visibly disheartened, and said, “Sir, to learn about my Jagannath, do I have to use a foreign language?” While English content was abundant, quality material in Odia—the native language—was sparse and poorly written.

This eye-opening moment, coupled with Anurag’s own experience of struggling to find valuable content in Odia about Jagannath rituals, ignited a mission: to empower Indians to create and access high-quality content in their own languages.

Srujanee: A Platform Rooted in Identity

In February 2023, Anurag, along with co-founder Biswajit Das, launched Srujanee (www.srujanee.in). The name itself evokes creativity and expression. The platform is a tech-enabled space where users can blog in Indian languages like Hindi, Odia, Telugu, Bengali, Tamil, Kannada, and uniquely, Sanskrit—making Srujanee the first in the country to support content creation in this classical language.

What sets Srujanee apart is its unique combination of linguistic support and digital discoverability. Blogs posted on Srujanee are automatically search engine optimized, meaning they show up in Google and Bing results without any extra effort from the writer. This makes native-language content more visible and accessible than ever before.
