PM inaugurates three key projects in Gujarat Launches ‘Kisan Suryodaya Yojana’

The Prime Minister said about Kisan Suryodaya Yojana that most of the farmers had previously obtained irrigation power only at night and had to wake up all night. Farmers also face problems with wild animals in Girnar and Junagadh. Farmers will get a three-phase power supply from 5 AM to 9 PM under the Kisan Suryodaya Yojana and bring a new dawn to their lives.

In Gujarat, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated 3 primary projects through video conferencing.

The Kisan Suryodaya Yojana was introduced by Shri Modi to provide farmers with 16 hours of electricity. At the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad, he also opened the Pediatric Heart Hospital attached to the U.N Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre and a Smartphone Application for Tele-Cardiology. On that day, the Prime Minister also inaugurated the Girnar Ropeway. Speaking on the occasion, he said that Gujarat has always been an outstanding model for the common man’s determination and devotion. He added that the Kisan Suryodaya Yojana Gujarat has set a milestone in meeting the needs of the Gujarat farmers following the Sujalam-Suflam and Sauni scheme. The work done in Gujarat for years in the field of electricity, he said, has become the pillar of this structure. He said all the works were done in project mode to increase the state's ability from power generation to transmission. He said that no one could have thought that India would show the world the road to One Light, One World, and One Grid when the Solar Power Plant was inaugurated in Patan in 2010. The Prime Minister appreciated the fact that in the last few years, India has now achieved five world positions in solar power and is advancing rapidly

The Prime Minister also praised the Government of Gujarat’s efforts to do this work by planning a completely new transmission capacity without impacting the other existing networks. Approximately 3,500 kilometers of new transmission lines will be laid under this scheme in the next 2-3 years and will be implemented in more than 1,000 villages in the coming days, with the majority of these villages in tribal dominated areas. He said it will change the lives of farmers' lakhs, when all of Gujarat gets power through this system.

The Prime Minister urged continuous work to help farmers double their incomes by reducing their investment and overcoming their difficulties, in line with the changing times. He listed the government initiatives to double farmers' incomes, such as the creation of thousands of FPOs, urea neem coating, Soil Health Cards, and the launch of several new initiatives. He said other than the government FPOs, Panchayats and all such organizations are supported under KUSUM Yojana in setting up small solar plants on barren lands and those farmers' irrigation pumps are also linked to solar power. He added that farmers can use the electricity produced from this for their irrigation and they can sell the surplus electricity.

The Prime Minister said that Gujarat has also done commendable work in the field of irrigation and drinking water along with electricity. He said that just to get water, there used to be great difficulties for people, and today water has reached those districts that were not imagined before. He was proud of projects such as the Sardar Sarovar project and the Water Grids that helped water enter Gujarat's drought-hit regions. He pointed out that 80 percent of Gujarat’s households have drinking water piped and Gujarat will be the state where every house will have drinking water piped very soon. He urged farmers to reiterate the Per Drop More Crop mantra as it is being inaugurated by Kisan Suryodaya Yojana. He said it would enable farmers to set up micro irrigation by providing electricity during the day, and Kisan Suryodaya Yojana would enable in the expansion of micro irrigation in the state.

He said that few hospitals in the country that have a world-class infrastructure as well as a modern health facility and will be India's largest cardiac hospital, referring to the UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Center are launched today. Gujarat did a commendable job of setting up a network of modern hospitals, medical colleges, and connecting better health facilities to every village, he said. In Gujarat, more than 525 Jan Aushadi Kendras were opened to offer low-cost medicines and around Rs 100 crore were used to save the common people of Gujarat from this.
